Empowering young Nigerians to lead the fight against cancer through awareness, prevention, and advocacy.
The Youth Coalition Against Cancer (YOCAC) is the official youth wing of the Nigerian Cancer Society (NCS). We are a dynamic, youth-led movement dedicated to reducing the cancer burden in Nigeria through awareness, prevention, advocacy, and support initiatives targeted at young people.
YOCAC serves as a platform for mobilizing Nigerian youth to take active roles in cancer control, promote healthy lifestyles, and support individuals and families affected by cancer.
"To educate, empower, and mobilize young people across Nigeria to combat cancer through prevention, early detection advocacy, healthy lifestyle promotion, and compassionate support for those affected."
Our multi-faceted approach to youth engagement in cancer control
YOCAC raises awareness about cancer prevention, early detection, and management through community outreach, school engagements, campaigns, and public advocacy programs.
A core focus of YOCAC is tobacco control. Through initiatives such as #SmokeFreeFuture, we engage schools and universities to educate young people on tobacco dangers.
YOCAC actively participates in national and global health observances, including World Cancer Day and World No Tobacco Day, organizing walks, media campaigns, and community engagements.
We work closely with the Nigerian Cancer Society, Federal Ministry of Health, National Institute for Cancer Research and Treatment (NICRAT), and other organizations to strengthen cancer control efforts.
YOCAC advocates for early detection and provides psychosocial support initiatives for young people affected by cancer, including patients, survivors, and caregivers.
Organized for maximum impact across Nigeria
YOCAC operates under a national executive structure with designated leadership roles including:
The first national executives were officially inaugurated in February 2025, following key appointments made in January 2025 to strengthen the coalition's impact and reach.
YOCAC is supported by regional and state coordinators across Nigeria's 36 states, ensuring nationwide engagement and local impact.
